Former Plainview football star could break out for TCU
ARLINGTON, Texas (KTEN) - For the first time in over two decades the TCU Horned Frogs will have a head coach not named Gary Patterson. Patterson is now an assistant on the staff at Texas and Sonny Dykes is the head coach of the Horned Frogs.
Dykes comes from SMU and knows the Dallas Fort-Worth area well. He will also have a familiar Texoma face in former Plainview star receiver Blake Nowell.
Nowell is entering his redshirt-sophomore season and caught a 20-yard touchdown pass in his first game with the Horned Frogs in 2021.
"Blake is an interesting guy," said Dykes last week at Big 12 Media Days. "He's one of those players that can really develop and carve out a role for himself...I'm excited to have a chance to work with him."
TCU will open its season on the road at Colorado on September 2.
