Smoother roads ahead in Grayson, Fannin counties
(KTEN) -- The Texas Department of Transportation is re-surfacing highways in Grayson and Fannin counties that are in need of improvement.
The projects include:
- U.S. Business 377 in Whitesboro (4.8 miles)
- FM 84, from U.S. 75 in Denison north to Grandpappy Point (5.7 miles)
- State Highway 11, from SH 121 in Randolph east to State Highway 78 in Bailey (6.7 miles)

"Our engineers are constantly inspecting those roads to see which ones need a tune up like this; a new pavement overlay," said TxDOT spokesperson Tim McAlavy.
Grayson County resident Allen Harshbarder is looking forward to improvements.
"It will probably help the business," he said. "This is a pretty busy part of Whitesboro, this street here, and I actually think it will help."
The Business 377 project is scheduled to be complete by the end of October, but McAlavy said the summer weather could have an impact on construction.
"We take extra steps at TxDOT to keep our crew safe," he said. "We encourage our contractors to do so. It is a tough time to be someone to be working outside, and we encourage our contractors to take good care of their people."
Motorists on these routes should be aware of potential construction delays and consider alternate routes.
