DURANT, Okla. (KTEN) — Qualifying Bryan County senior citizens can get free monthly food boxes.

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma partners with the Ron Cross Senior Activity Center in Durant to distribute the boxes from the Commodity Supplemental Food Program.

The boxes contain a variety of long-lasting foods like pasta and canned vegetables.

"It is a way to supplement their monthly food allowance, what they're able to have in their pantries," said RFBO spokesperson Cathy Nestlen. "And so every month, if they qualify, they can pick up a box of shelf-stable food."

Single-person households must have an annual income less than $17,000 to qualify for the program.
