Denison Main Street selling bricks for Eisenhower Veterans Monument
DENISON, Texas (KTEN) – When you drive past the Eisenhower Veterans Monument on U.S. 75 in Denison, your eye likely catches the 16-foot tall bust of the nation's 34th president and World War II commander.
But there's more here that you can't see from the road.
The Denison Main Street office sells personalized bricks that are laid in front of that statue.
"Each year from Memorial Day to the 4th of July, we sell bricks for the Eisenhower monument and they fund the upkeep of the monument,” said Main Street director Donna Dow.
The new batch of bricks is laid during the city's annual Eisenhower birthday celebration. And for the 2022 ceremony, the city has something special planned.
"This year we've got the sesquicentennial celebration, and we've got family coming in for it," Dow said.
And there's a discount to honor those who served.
"The bricks are $80 for any brick related to a veteran, like if you buy it for a veteran. And then $110 for anybody that just wants to show support for it," Dow said.
