Grayson baseball splits doubleheader with McLennan to finish regular season

After falling 11-1 to McLennan in the first game, Grayson Baseball bounced back to beat McLennan 6-5 after a walk-off single from Yanluis Ortiz.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Zach Hudspeth hit an RBI single, allowing Brett Nicholas to score. McLennan pulled ahead in the top of the eighth, scoring three runs. In the bottom half of the inning, Dalton Beck hit a two run RBI double, making it a one run game. Tate Bethel put Grayson back in the lead after a two run homerun.
McLennan tied it up in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, Weston Dean was hit by a pitch, and later stole second. Yanluis Ortiz hit a walk-off RBI single to secure Grayson's victory.
Jaron DeBerry started things off for Grayson, pitching five innings, striking out nine, and did not allow a run or hit. Beau Leonards pitched for two innings, striking out three. Zach Ryan pitched for less than an innings, allowing three runs. Dax Dathe got the win, pitching 1+ innings, allowing two runs on two hits, walking two and striking out four.
Grayson advances to 36-17 and 24-9 overall in conference heading into the Region 5 Tournament in Midland next week.
