Demolition of Woodmen Circle Home is underway
SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) -- The demolition of the Woodmen Circle Home is underway.
The property dates back to the 1920's where it served as an orphanage and dormitory for widows.
The city of Sherman moved forward with demolition and will recycle back and save portions of the building for posterity.
"We know a lot of people are sad to see it go," said Sherman Communications Manager, Nate Strauch. "You know, I'm really sad to see it go. This has been really neat part of Sherman for a very long time. Unfortunately, the time where it could've been saved, that time passed decades ago. This was really the only option left on the table."
Strauch adds the demolition is expected to take a couple of months.
