ADA, Okla. (KTEN) — Kristie Evans,  the Ada woman who was accused of asking her boyfriend to murder her husband in March of last year, has pleaded guilty to her role in the crime.

Her plea was entered at the Pontotoc County Courthouse on Monday during a pre-trial meeting.

Evans, 48, was charged with first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of her husband, David Evans, who had been the pastor of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Ada for five years.

Kristie Evans initially told police that an intruder was responsible for shooting her husband, but later confesses to her involvement.

She told investigators that she and her husband had a sexual relationship with 29-year-old Kahlil Square; that later led to an affair she had with Square.

Kristie Evans admitted to investigators that she asked Square to shoot and kill her husband. Square remains in custody at the Pontotoc County Jail, and he also faces first degree murder charges. The next hearing in his case is scheduled for August 25.

The sentencing hearing for Kristie Evans is scheduled to begin on August 9.
