Sherman police chief elevated to new city position
SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — The City of Sherman has created a new executive position to enhance public safety.
Current police Chief Zachary Flores is being promoted as the executive director of public safety.
Under this new position, he will oversee the police and fire departments of the fast-growing city.
"This decision isn't one that's taken lightly," said Flores. "I think the police department will be able to carry on with some of the initiatives that I set forward, and hopefully I can continue put that influence in the rest of the city. And so, I'm grateful for the City Manager and City Council for the time I had."
The city is hoping to promote from within to replace Flores as police chief.
