TOM BEAN, Texas (KTEN) - Tom Bean broke ground on their new indoor student activities center on Thursday. The facility will be named after Jesse Farrer, a well-know youth sports coach and pastor in Tom Bean. It will be used for multiple sports and activities.

Farrer lost his battle with cancer a year ago today, which was the significance behind having the groundbreaking on Thursday.

Speakers at the event included the Tom Bean superintendent, students, coaches and alumni.

"The family wanted it that way when he passed," said Tom Bean athletic director and head football coach Steven Fex. "This is just another great example of how passionate this community is for this place."
