SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — If you drive pass the Grayson County Courthouse this month, you'll notice small blue flags on the lawn.

They were placed Friday morning by advocates for victims of child abuse.

"We just really want us as a community to stand up against child abuse, and to know that kids are supported if they've experienced this," said Abigail Hill with the Grayson County Children's Advocacy Center.

Her organization is honoring children who are subjected to abuse.

"A flag represents every single child that's a confirmed victim of child abuse in Grayson County in just the last year," HIll said. "This year there are 356 flags out."

For the past few weeks, the Advocacy Center been selling blue T-shirts printed with children's artwork.

"All of the money that we make during the month of April goes right back into awareness education. We've sold about 1,200 shirts this year," Hill said.

Any money raised helps with their mission.

"I want everyone to wear blue every Friday in April," Hill said. "I want them to tag us @cacgrayson. I want them to do anything and everything they can to raise awareness."
