AUSTIN, Texas ( – Murphy Stehly hit three home runs to lead No. 2 Texas Baseball to 12-0 win over UIW to complete the sweep of the Cardinals at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Sunday.

The Longhorns (17-5) have now won four-straight games and done so with a combined score of 59-8.  This is the first time since the 1993 season that Texas has scored in double digits in four straight wins.

Murphy Stehly had another exceptional performance going 3-for-4 with three home runs and four RBI. Stehly is the sixth Texas Longhorn in history to have a three-homer game and the first since J.D. Reininger in 2002 against TCU.

Douglas Hodo III went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI of his own.

Lucas Gordon pitched a career high seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits and had four strikeouts. Gordon picked up his first career win on the mound. Relievers Jared Southard and Aaron Nixon pitched a pair of scoreless innings to complete the Longhorns fifth shutout of the season.

Texas wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Eric Kennedy started the game with a bunt single, stole second base and scored on an RBI single by Hodo.

The Longhorns scored six more runs in the second, all of which were with two-outs. Skyler Messinger doubled and scored on an RBI double by Eric Kennedy. Hodo drove in two more with an RBI single to left field.

Ivan Melendez launched a two-run homer, his ninth of the season, to make the score 6-0. On the very next pitch, Stehly followed suit and hit a home run of his own bringing the score to 7-0.

Three runs were added in the fourth on a bases loaded walk by Stehly and RBI singles from Ardoin and Messinger.

Stehly hit his second bomb of the game with a solo homer in the sixth, and finished his last at bat in the eighth with his third and final home run to bring the Longhorns final score to 12-0. 

Texas will host a mid-week game against Central Arkansas at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
