MARSHALL COUNTY, Okla. (KTEN) — Multiple explosions rocked an XTO Energy oil storage site near Madill on Wednesday morning.

Madill Fire Department Chief Mike Idleman said his department responded to the first alarm at 11:20 a.m. and were at the scene on Sparlin Road southeast of the city within 10 minutes.

Idleman said there were five explosions in a storage tank that triggered a fire and a plume of black smoke.

No one was at the well site at the time of the blasts, and no one was reported hurt.

"Right now we are waiting to get back down there to see if we can determine what caused this deal, because it's a nice pretty day," Idleman said. "That will be a joint effort between us and XTO."

The fire was extinguished with 30 minutes. The nearest residence to the incident is more than half a mile away.
