(KTEN) — As drought conditions intensify across Texoma, County Judge Bill Magers signed an order Friday restricting outdoor burning in unincorporated areas of Grayson County.

The order took effect at 11 a.m. Friday and continues until March 9 unless suspended or extended by Commissioners Court.

There are exceptions for certain outdoor cooking facilities and for welding operations.

Grayson County joins a growing list of Texoma communities that have established restrictions for outdoor burning as fire danger remains high due to a potentially combustible combination of dry conditions, wind, and low humidity.
