DENISON, Texas (KTEN) -- If you were brave enough to venture out on icy roads and highways on Thursday, it wasn't business as usual.

Many stores and restaurants did not open their doors because employees couldn't travel, there were no customers, or a combination of those factors.

In Denison, McDonald's, Starbucks and Taco Bell were among the dining options unavailable on Thursday, and downtown's Main Street looked like a ghost town.

We found that Sonic and Walmart were among the few businesses that were welcoming customers.

If you are thinking about traveling to a local store or restaurant, it's a good idea to call ahead to make sure they will be open when you get there.
