CARTER COUNTY, Okla. (KTEN) — Former Wilson police officers Joshua Taylor and Brandon Dingman were sentenced to 10 years in prison on Thursday afternoon.

They were found guilty of second degree murder last month in connection with the stun gun death of Jared Lakey in 2019. Evidence showed the convicted officers deployed their Tasers 53 times for almost 4 minutes while trying to subdue Lakey on July 4, 2019.

District Attorney Craig Ladd said Taylor and Dingman will have to spend eight-and-a-half years in jail before they are eligible for parole.
