SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — A Sherman apartment building is considered a total loss after a fire that broke out during Monday's lunch hour.

The first alarm went out shortly after 12 noon at the Archer Village Apartments at 415 Archer Drive.

All of the occupants were able to safely escape, but one resident had to leave their pet dog behind.

Cheers erupted from onlookers as a Sherman firefighter emerged from the burning building with the dog.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
