HOWE, Texas (KTEN) — A motorist from Missouri died early Wednesday morning after a crash in Howe, about 10 miles south of Sherman.

Howe police said 28-year-old Jordan Helenkamp of St. Louis had parked his car on the shoulder of the southbound lanes of U.S. 75 when a Dodge Challenger crashed into it from behind at around 2:30 a.m.

The driver of the Dodge — identified by police as Guillermo Munoz Garcia of Dallas — was not injured.

But Helenkamp was pronounced dead at the scene, and an unnamed passenger in Munoz Garcia's vehicle was hospitalized with serious injuries.

A dog in Helenkamp's car was also seriously hurt and later died at a veterinary hospital.

Munoz Garcia, 20, was arrested on a charge of intoxication manslaughter and was booked into the Grayson County Jail.
