Sherman Planning and Zoning to vote on new housing, coffee shop
SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — Sherman Planning and Zoning will meet Tuesday evening to discuss two hot topics.
One of the major items on the agenda is yet another planned development right across from Bel Air Village.
"I'm from that area. The more people that come in, that's nice," one homeowner told us.
The proposed development is called Travis Heights. The 160-acre lot would consist of 400 single family homes. The city is calling it the largest residential expansion Sherman has seen.
"The growth in Sherman doesn't seem to be slowing anytime soon," city spokesperson Nate Strauch said. "Moving from building 300, 400, 500 homes a year to moving that into thousands of homes a year."
Another potential addition to Sherman is a Dutch Bros. Coffee Shop. This would be the first one between Dallas-Fort Worth and Oklahoma City.
"We've heard it's really popular," Strauch said. "It's more of a high-end coffee product."
Dutch Bros. would move in right next to Raising Canes, a fast-food chicken restaurant that Strauch said people have been asking for.
"Sherman's really lucky that we have a lot of fantastic locally-owned coffee companies," Strauch said. "Whether you're looking for something local to the area or you're more comfortable with the corporate feel, we really have both of those."
