MARSHALL COUNTY, Okla. (KTEN) — A new mixed-use development is being planned on the site of the former Lake Texoma State Park in Marshall County, Oklahoma.

Pointe Vista is a 2,700-acre site which will accommodate 2,100 new homes.  Developers are pre-selling homes to people who are interested in a lakeside view.

Sound familiar? There have been plans to develop this site at the west end of the Roosevelt Bridge since at least 2006.

The first phase of the current project will include condominiums and townhomes. Homes will also be available to rent for people interested in a weekend stay at the lake.

"We have a wonderful golf course that we probably would have a lot more rounds if we had more lodging," said operations manager Ryan Chapman. "One thing that this property is going to bring is lodging. The area has been without lodging for a long time. There are a lot of smaller areas around that people can stay, but with six million people coming to this lake every year, the lodging is the key. You build it, they will come."

Officials say Pointe Vista development could bring more traffic through the smaller towns that surround Lake Texoma and help economic growth.
