SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) -- Texoma Harley-Davidson had a busy day simultaneously hosting two events.

"This backpack drive for the kids, I feel like is very important, and I think a lot of our customers and our community think so also," says the store's business manager, Everett Sims.

Those who donated backpacks or at least $10 were entered into a raffle. One lucky winner snagged a $2,000 in-store credit.

"I feel like it's always been a part of the motorcycle culture to give back to the community," said Sims. "A lot of people might see someone who looks rough and mean, but there's so many poker runs and charity events that go on, and we like to be a part of it."

Right outside of the school fundraiser, was a Hot Wheels and Harley event.

"It's like a charity car show," said Camaro SS owner Jay Sing. But there were plenty of classics in the lot.

A 1999 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible being one of them. "This car's been designed so it can run wider tires on the back, the motor has been powder coated under the hood, this is a convertible car, but this car has a hard top on it," said owner David Blaylock.

Blaylock said he bought it for a fraction of the original value, and that it has more than $50,000 of add-ons.

"I mean, if it's something of sentimental value to you then it's worth building a car, but otherwise it's much faster and more economical to just go buy one that someone spent all the money on," he said.

It's not all about looks. Blaylock said the cars attract people to take part in the fundraiser, something he strives to do with poker runs that he participates in all year long.

"Guys like me, we live for it," said Blaylock. "We get to go take our car and we get to go join this run that's going to benefit somebody."
