Sherman tenants still waiting for storm repairs
SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) -- February's brutal winter storms left their mark on Texoma.
Escalating plumbing and damage to Bobbie McDonald's townhome.
She said communication between tenants and management at Peppertree Townhomes concerning repairs has been frustrating.
"I called Southwest Management or the maintenance very quickly," McDonald said. "They come and they turn the water off. They climbed up here, pulled my ceiling off, capped off the tub, they got down, cleaned up the mess, and walked out and said they will fix it when they can."
Several weeks later, McDonald's apartment, which was built in 1985, has still not been repaired and she remains without water.
SouthWest Management operations manager Kyle Wiser apologized to tenants and said they are working to repair damaged to their hundreds of properties as quickly as they can.
"We are doing so in phases so as to make sure no one is left without any plumbing for any longer than necessary," Wiser said in a written statement. "Unfortunately, we do not have access to the manpower to fully complete each property's plumbing issues 100% before moving on, at least until the next phase."
He added that most of the repair work is being done by management staffers because plumbers are at a premium following the storm.
