LAKE MURRAY, Okla. (KTEN) -- After more than nine months of construction, the new Murray Harbor marina is getting ready to open to boaters this summer.

"We're over 50 percent committed at this point, probably about 60 percent committed," said managing partner Dustin Huff. "A lot of big boats are coming over right now, and we're starting to get some of the smaller boats wanting to come over."

Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell said one of the state's top priorities is attracting tourists. He said two million more people visited Oklahoma parks in 2020 than the year before, and state officials want that figure to keep climbing.

"People are getting outside more -- all generations by the way, young and old," he said. "We want that type of quality of life, and Lake Murray is one of our premiere parks."

Murray Harbor plans to provide luxurious amenities to attract those visitors. Aside from the main lodge, the new marina has0 three individual shower rooms and four single-stall restrooms in the works.

"All of the substructure, decking, flotation... all of that is completed at this point," Huff said. "Now we're putting up roofing, and we have our first dock completed as far as the roofing goes."

Huff said February's winter storms did set them back a little, but they're still planning to open on May 17. Rates for slip rental range from $3,250 to $12,500 annually.
