Mercury and Jupiter visible Friday

(KTEN) -- On Friday, March 5, the largest and smallest planets in our solar system will appear side by side in the evening sky.
This event is known as the Mercury and Jupiter Conjunction. In reality, Mercury and Jupiter will be roughly 400 million miles apart. However they’ll appear closer than usual due to the paths each planet takes in its own orbit. From Earth, it will look like they are side by side.
To see the conjunction, look to the southeastern sky about an hour before sunrise. Mercury will be the harder planet to spot due to its proximity to the sun. Jupiter, which will appear brighter, can help with locating the much smaller planet.
