SOPER, Okla. (KTEN) -- A Choctaw County man has died after an ambulance was stolen at his house in Soper late Sunday night.

The Choctaw County Ambulance Authority said medics were treating a patient inside the home around 11:30 p.m. when a young man jumped in the ambulance and drove away.

Before abandoning the vehicle, the suspect got away with medicine and supplies.

Investigators said a family member had to drive the patient 35 miles to a hospital in Paris, Texas for further treatment.  The man later died.
