DENISON, Texas (KTEN) -- Denison High School has named the man who will replace Chad Rogers as the Yellow Jackets' athletic director and head football coach.

Brent Whitson comes to Denison after 10 seasons at South Grand Prairie High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Warriors ended the 2020 season 6-3 after losing to Allen in the area round of the playoffs.

Whitson has coaching stops at Richardson, Broken Arrow, Ardmore and Weatherford. He also was on staff at Shawnee High School in 2003 and helped lead the Wolves to a Class 5A state title.

Whitson is a graduate of Ada High School, where he played quarterback for the Cougars. Then he took his football talents down the road to East Central University and played for four years as a Tiger.

Chad Rogers announced his departure from the Denison Independent School District last month after accepting a similar position with Tioga ISD.
