POTTSBORO, Texas (KTEN) -- Three Grayson County financial institutions have been targeted by burglars in a 24-hour span.

A trio of thieves went after an ATM machine in Collinsville early Sunday morning.

Surveillance video showed them hooking the machine up to a pickup truck that had been stolen in Tioga and attempting to pull it off its base.

Police in Collinsville, Texas, released this image of two men attempting to burglarize an ATM at the Credit Union Bank on February 21, 2021.

Police said the trio then jumped in a different car and headed to Howe. This time, they broke through the front door.

Then -- on Monday morning -- burglars struck at the Simmons Bank in Pottsboro in a different pickup stolen that had been pilfered in Whitesboro.

"You could see the three subjects fleeing on foot to another vehicle that was parked in another parking lot," Pottsboro Police Chief Shone Nix said.

Two Sherman banks and one in Denison were also targeted in January. Chief Nix said two in Pottsboro were damaged last year.

Whether any previous crimes are connected to the crime spree in February was still unclear as of Monday.

Police said only one person has been arrested in any of the attempted thefts, and only one time -- in Sherman -- did any of the thieves actually leave with cash.

"I'm just glad they're unsuccessful," Chief Nix said. "Unfortunately for the banks, one of those ATMs is approximately $50-60,000 in value, and they completely destroy it when they do that."

The FBI is working with each city and the public to help identify these would-be thieves. Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes these individuals to call their local police department.

Would-be thieves abandoned their attempt to yank an ATM from the Credit Union Bank in Collinsville, Texas, on February 21, 2021.
