Wells help bring much-needed water
POTTSBORO, Texas (KTEN) -- Ongoing problems with water service across Texoma and as the ice and snow melts, problems with pipes will become more prevalent.
"Nobody has water, I am just one of many," Tina Koenig added. "We're hoping with the rising temperature, we're not going to be waiting too long."
Some people are melting snow, using water bottles, and of course still boiling water - just to have enough to get by, but some generous folks in Pottsboro have come up with a new strategy.
All week owners of private wells have been donating water and dropping it off at the Pottsboro Library.
"You know we have a well, it's back up and running now, plenty of water; it goes down to an aquifer so there is no risk of running dry," said Cynthia Zinn, who is donating water from her private well. "Just bring your containers and we'll fill them up as long as we have power."
"This morning when we got there they were lined up, so it was really nice to be able to get water to people that really, really need it," said Zinn's mom Sally Thomason, who is helping donate the well water.
And well -- if you got a well, and are comfortable sharing: that could be a blessing for many.
"They can use it to flush their toilet, wash their dishes, wash their hair, you know anything -- they've been without water for days now," said Director of the Pottsboro Library Lindy Meiser.
KTEN is told the well water needs to be boiled before drinking.
You are urged to contact the Pottsboro Library if you're in need and for water pick-up times.
