SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) -- A Sherman house was engulfed in flames around 6 a.m. Friday.

Firefighters said they were unable to connect to a hydrant because of what they called "water pressure problems" at the address on Anthony Drive on the city's west side.

They used the limited water available to protect adjacent properties as the structure collapsed and burned to the ground. A woman, a child, and their pets were able to escape without injury.

"It was really heartbreaking and sad," said neighbor Joanney Ridgon. "After talking to some of the neighbors that know them and were talking that everybody is okay and they're out, their dogs and everything was okay."

Sherman firefighters are still investigating the cause of the blaze.

"After the pandemic and snow and everything else, and now this happening. So that was really sad," Rigdon said.
