LONE GROVE, Okla. (KTEN) -- Early Thursday morning, a few workers took part of their day to head to a job they're not getting paid for.

Jeremy Sudderth and a few others are helping Lone Grove schools open again.

"We're just getting together and helping the community and trying to get the school back to where we can get the kids back to school," he said. "I think everybody's ready to get the kids out of the house!"

For the past three days, members of this small group have been plowing many places around the Carter County community. Sudderth said the group worked through the night on Wednesday and they planned to do it Thursday, too.

With the tools available to them, Sudderth said the workers were looking for a way to get their motors running.

"Everybody out here does dirt work, builds paths and stuff like that, but you know, since obviously we've got a foot of snow, then everybody is trying to pitch in and help out," he said.

Brayden Brashear said this job isn't over… until it's over.

"How long have you been out here?" he was asked.

"About an hour, probably," Brashear replied.

“How long do you plan on staying out?"

"As long as it takes."

After about four hours of plowing, the several inches of snow covering the parking lot were almost completely gone.

Their goal is to get the City of Lone Grove back up and functioning as quickly as possible.
