Warming center welcomes the coldest Texomans
DURANT, Okla. (KTEN) -- You're homeless. There's a snowstorm bringing record low temperatures.
What do you do?
In Durant, Brown's Funeral Service opened its doors to anyone seeking a last resort shelter on Sunday.
Staffers said they knew there wasn't a place for the homeless in Bryan County, so they worked to make room. They've provided hot meals and warm showers.
Police stopped by, saying this is the most well-rested they've ever seen these guests.
"It's been great," said volunteer Serena Backues. "The support has been mind-blowing to see people and hear different stories that we're able to serve has been pretty remarkable."
St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Denison is offering a similar warming shelter, and so are several churches across Fannin County.
