A new home for Ardmore Boys & Girls Club

ARDMORE, Okla. -- The Ardmore Boys & Girls Club moved into its new home on Monday morning.

They had been operating in Broadway Plaza for about a year, with very limited space. Now that they've moved to the old Ardmore Christian School, where there's more space for more children.

"We can take those kids in and provide them with the things that they want to do; the things that they need in their life," said board member Chris Witherspoon. "Help with their homework, meals, socializing in a controlled environment, and keeping kids off the streets."

All the extra space means more room for more activities.

"The kids will have an art room for art; they'll have a room just for education," CEO Larry Long said. "The preteens will have their own room, the teenagers will have their own room, and a big cafeteria."

The goal of the Boys & Girls Club is to impact children and teens in positive ways.

"There's not a whole lot of places for kids to go," Long said. "We keep the kids off the streets and keep them busy doing positive things, and this is a miracle in work."

IMPACT Ardmore will share space in the building.

"It is wonderful to have a place to plant our feet and to strategize and do logistics and have volunteers to come in and get signed up," said executive director Misty Apala.
