McCLAIN COUNTY, Okla. (KTEN) -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a Davis woman was killed in a multi-vehicle crash near a construction zone on Interstate 35 Monday morning.

Troopers said an 18-wheeler driven slammed into the back of a sport utility vehicle in a congested traffic area in the northbound lanes near Wayne, Oklahoma around 9:30 a.m.

The impact propelled the SUV into the back of another tractor-trailer.

The driver of the car, identified as 63-year-old Julia Kraus, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 71-year-old James Kraus, was taken to OU Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

Neither truck driver was hurt.

A preliminary report from the Highway Patrol cited "inattention" on the part of truck driver Johnny Lee Spradlin, of Tarrant, Texas, as the cause of the accident.

All northbound lanes of the interstate were closed for several hours while the wreckage was cleared, leading to extended delays.
