DENISON, Texas -- The Denison Independent School District continues to look at options to relieve capacity issues at Mayes and Hyde Park elementary schools.

A committee met last month to talk about expanding both campuses to make more room for students. Now the school board is sitting down with architects.

"I think this is the most cost-effective way to provide space," Superintendent Henry Scott said. "Long term we're going to have to look at expanding and building an additional elementary school, but I think for the interim this is the best way to approach it."

There are no definite plans yet, but Scott believes starting the discussion is necessary.
