Lone Grove Family Loses Their Home and Pet in Tornado

Posted:

Wednesday KTEN's Deeda Payton spent the day talking with tornado victims, relatives, friends and law enforcement about the destruction. One of the families I spoke with lived on highway 70 where so much of the damage has been reported. Here's their story.

Driving in there was unbelieveable damage. Big brick buildings completely down to the ground, pretty complete destruction. Shirley Mose and her family were not home when the tornado touched down. They were at a local basketball game. They had only been there five minutes when it was announced that a tornado was just five miles away.  She never dreamed that her family's home was in the storm's path. I spoke to her just ten minutes after she saw her home for the first time. It's unbelievable...shock right now.

Leslie Mose of the Chickasaw Nation was one of the first to arrive and was able to find shirley's diabetes and high blood pressure medication. This is one of our employees out here so we are trying help clean up the house and salvage anything we can salvage.

I'm sitting on the front steps of the moses house...that's all that's left of the home for their family of four.   They lost their entire home, all their belongings, and everything while they were at a basketball game just up the road.
