Copperhead Bites Young Boy in Sherman

In Sherman: A boy is flown to Children's hospital in Dallas after he's bitten by a copperhead snake.

It happened at Rainbow Mobile Home Park in the 1600 block of West Lamar. A witness says some kids were playing, and they put a baby snake in a cooler. That's when the eight year old was bitten on the finger.

"He was just here playing with some friends that just moved in," says Sharon Lopez, who called 911. "They were down off in the creek and found the snake and put it in an ice chest and was playing with it, and it bit him. None of the parents were there, so he come around to the manager's office, and I come around behind him, and I just called in to get him some help."

The boy was flown to the hospital in stable condition. The snake was taken by animal control, and according to the fire department has died.
