SPCA of Texas Rescues 209 Cats, 3 Dogs from
Bonham, TX Property on Friday, February 1

(Bonham, TX); February 1, 2008-Under the authority of the Bonham Police Department, the SPCA of Texas has rescued 209 cats and 3 dogs today from a property in Bonham, TX. The animals were found inside a two-story house on the property living in filthy, feces and urine-infested conditions. In portions of the house, feces and urine is stacked up several feet, and the yard and house are packed with refuse and filthy household items. The odor of urine can be smelled from the sidewalk.

SPCA of Texas investigators and Bonham Police authorities met at the Bonham Police Department building at 301 East 5th Street in Bonham, TX, at 8 a.m. and caravanned to the property from there. The warrant was served by law enforcement.

The SPCA of Texas Emergency Response Vehicle arrived at the SPCA of Texas' Perry Animal Care Center at 8411 Stacy Road/FM 720 in McKinney at 3:30 p.m. with the animals.

If the animals are awarded to the SPCA at the hearing, which will take place Tuesday, February 5 at 10 a.m. at the Municipal Courtroom at the Bonham Police Station at 301 E. 5th St. in Bonham, they will be spayed and neutered and made available for adoption on a case by case basis. Meanwhile, the cats and dogs will be vaccinated, wormed, fed, groomed and evaluated by a veterinarian in the coming days.
