SHERMAN, Texas -- It's all in the name.

embers of 903 Mindful spent their Sunday afternoon being mindful of the homeless around them in Sherman.

"There's other groups that come out and help feed them, but on Sundays there is nobody," explained Christopher Creed. "So we are dedicated to coming out on Sundays and feeding them."

The group spent its Sunday offering food and other essentials to those who need it.

"Just helping out the community, giving them what they don't have," said Kimberly Thomas. "We just all enjoy doing it, and everyone has come out today and it's been great."

"We don't do it to feel good about ourselves; we do it to help others because we know they need it," Cred said. "We don't come here for publicity or any of that. Of course, publicity helps it gets people to invest and to donate to our cause out here."

He added that the plight of the homeless hits close to home for him.

"I spent a couple years on and off the street, and I know how hard it is to struggle to get a foot up," Creed said. "Our goal is to give these guys and women that help, that lift up, to try and get them out of the streets."

903 mindful is happy with what they provide for the homeless now, but their sights are set higher.

"To build a shelter here in Sherman and get these guys out of these tent cities and into a real home," Creed said.
