TISHOMINGO, Okla. -- A Tishomingo attorney is answering the call to the big leagues.

Dustin Rowe was recently appointed by Governor Kevin Stitt to the Oklahoma Supreme Court. Family and friends gathered in Tishomingo Friday for a sendoff.

While Rowe is excited for the opportunity, he said he'll never forget where he came from.

"Tishomingo will always be my home; I will always have a place here, and one day I'll retire here and spend the rest of my days here with people that I love so much," he said. "Southern Oklahoma is such a special place."

And that sentiment was reflected by those who took time to celebrate Rowe's appointment.

"He could not have been kinder to us if he had been our own family," said friend Sandy Garrett. "We are very thankful for him."

Rowe will start his official duties at Oklahoma's top court on December 20.
