PAULS VALLEY, Okla. -- A Pauls Valley couple will spend the rest of their lives in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted of a series of child abuse crimes.

Gerrad Coddington, 25, and his wife Christina Nelson-Coddington, 30, were charged last summer with first-degree rape, incest, child abuse and child pornography in a 29-count indictment.

They were sentenced Monday by Garvin County District Judge Leah Edwards.

"These two individuals engaged in horrifying acts of abuse and violence with innocent children," Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter said in a statement issued Tuesday morning. "These are evil people who presented a danger to society."

The attorney general's office said an investigation of the Coddingtons was launched after a tip that they had shared a pornographic photo of a minor on social media.

Evidence against the couple included accounts of underage children being beaten, handcuffed and raped.

The attorney general's office credited the Garvin County Sheriff's Office and the Pauls Valley Police Department for investigating the tip. The Coddingtons were arrested three days later.
