ARDMORE, Okla. -- An Ardmore woman is making sure her neighbors don't forget what Thanksgiving is all about.

Tracie Mordy is encouraging people to use her tree as a reminder of what they're thankful for. Visitors can write down whatever they're thankful for and nail that note to the Thankful Tree.

"One person said that they were cancer-free; another person says they're free of drug addiction," Mordy said. "That's really what we're looking for."

Mordy said it's a way to stay grounded during the crazy holiday season.

"You get so busy thinking about, 'Oh, I've got to go to Walmart and get this and this, that and the other.' This is what Thanksgiving is about: The things that you're thankful for," she said.

You're invited to post your messages of thanks on her tree through Thanksgiving weekend.  It's located at the corner of I Street and McLish Avenue.

Mordy said she plans to bring back the tree again next year.

"I hope it's a big thing," she said. "I hope every year it grows and grows, and we don't have any more room on the tree for more messages... and I guess we'll think of something else."

What happens to the messages? Mordy said she'll save them all and "just kind of look at it throughout the year and remind ourselves what we have to be thankful for, too."
