Your donation is doubled for helping the hungry

ARDMORE, Okla. -- The need for food to nourish those at Ardmore shelters is great.

"We feed them two meals a day, plus we always have snacks," said  David Lowden, executive director at Broadway House. "If they're here for lunch, they can fix their lunch."

"Making sure that everyone has enough to eat in the community, there is a need for that," added Larry Allen, the house manager at O.U.T.

The need is always great as Thanksgiving approaches.

"Always seems like during the holidays, you know, there's more, a few more coming around," Lowden said.

Now, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is helping out with its 2019 Holiday Match campaign. Every donation made to the food bank is matched, and every dollar helps provide eight meals.

Regional Food Bank CEO Katie Fitzgerald says no one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

Providing meals to those who need it this time of year is a big deal for Larry Allen.

"A lot of these guys ... if they didn't have this meal, they don't have the money coming in sometimes or whatever, and they depend on it, and we're thankful for it," he said.

The food that the Regional Food Bank provides all the basics.

"Meat and produce, and there's always a lot of produce, to," Lowden said. "That's a lot of the things that we get for free a lot of times from Food Bank."
