DENISON, Texas -- Downtown Denison is getting ready for the Christmas season.

That means a return of the outdoor ice rink, back for its fourth year at 530 West Main Street.

Workers started making ice for the skating facility on Wednesday morning, and this year's rink will be 45 percent larger than the 2018 edition.

Denison on Ice will be open to all ages and events, and organizers are also bringing in special guests.

"We were looking for a way to really enhance our holidays for downtown Denison, and this is a way we can bring that 'Hallmark' feeling home, and really just have that special moment that can be created for families of all interests," said Kimberly Bowen, assistant director of the Parks and Recreation Department.

The rink will be open to skaters starting Friday, November 29 (the day after Thanksgiving) through Sunday, January 5.
