Texas voters: Here's what's on Tuesday's ballot

Posted: Updated:

Tuesday is Election Day for the 158,950 registered voters in Grayson, Cooke, Lamar and Fannin counties. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

While there are no statewide offices on the ballot, there are 10 amendments to the Texas Constitution to be decided, along with a $20.8 million bond issue to expand two campuses in the Denison Independent School District.

The League of Women Voters of Texas has prepared non-partisan information about each of the constitutional amendments; click the links to learn more:

Voters in Sherman are asked to reauthorize a local sales and use tax that funds street maintenance. They will also determine the fate of three proposed Sherman City Charter amendments:

  • Amendment A: To change the definition of a "full term" of City Council membership from more than 12 months to more than 18 months of a 3-year term.
  • Amendment B: To change the maximum consecutive term of a Council member or mayor from 2 to 4 terms.
  • Amendment C: To change the terms of appointment for members of the City Planning and Zoning Board.

And in Gunter, voters are being asked if they wish to redirect a current 0.50% sales and use tax from property tax reduction to fund street maintenance. The city would continue to levy a 2% local option sales tax in either case.

KTEN will provide complete election coverage on November 5.
