DENISON, Texas -- As downtown Denison recovers from last month's devastating fire on Main Street, there's a new effort to help its victims.

"It's a major, major scar on the interior of downtown Denison, and that kind of represents all of us that live here," said Jason Smith of Overdrive Entertainment.

Smith is helping to produce the Denison Forward concert and auction on Sunday, November 10, with more than ten musical acts representing what he calls a "buffet" of artistic styles.

"Every single artist has some strong tie to Grayson County," Smith said, noting that all the participants are donating their time to take part.

"The majority of the people in my band are from Denison, and we're heavily involved in the local music scene," said Jared Mitchell of the Jared Mitchell Band. "Being a part of it was no question. We're there; just say when, and we'll be there with our trailer and we're ready to go."

The concert will start at 5 p.m. at Heritage Park. Admission is $10. It will be preceded by a silent auction at City Hall at 2 o'clock.

Proceeds will go to a fund established to help the businesses and residents who were displaced by the October 9 fire that destroyed two historic buildings and left the fate of several others still unresolved.
