SULPHUR, Okla. -- The Oklahoma School for the Deaf is making upgrades on its tree-shaded campus.

Staffers are changing lighting fixtures to LED bulbs. The change not only saves and electricity, it helps with campus safety and offers improved communication for those with hearing impairments.

"Communication really depends on visibility, and so the lighting -- or lack of lighting -- was really a problem on campus at night," OSD Superintendent Chris Dvorak said.

The school is also looking to upgrade emergency communications and renovate the old poll building.
