SADLER, Texas -- Fall has arrived (even though it doesn't feel like it yet).

Despite the unseasonable temperatures, Wild Berry Farm in Grayson County has opened up its pumpkin patch.

"It was super dry, and it causes a lot of blooms on the pumpkins to kind of fall off," said owner Jeremy Bloomer. "They abort their blooms when it gets that hot and dry."

This year, pumpkin growers in Oklahoma and Texas are only seeing about 25 percent of their pumpkins surviving the heat.

"There is not as many this year as usual," Lauren Bloomer said.

Wild Berry Farm grows their own pumpkins out in the field. They want to give visitors the real experience, but never know what kind of season they'll have.

"We do have some;  we have a lot available still, just not what we had maybe hoped for," Jeremy Bloomer said.

But the farm does offer much more than just orange gourds; there are fall festivities for the whole family.

"It's fun," Lauren Bloomer said. "Hopefully it will cool down so everybody can be more comfortable, but we are super excited."

Wild Berry Farm plans to remain open to the public through the end of October. It's open daily except Monday and Tuesday. Admission is $8.
