As if Labor Day weekend wasn't reason enough to celebrate, hunters can get excited because dove season kicks off in Texoma.

Hunters in both Oklahoma and Texas can start looking for birds on Sunday morning. Parks and Wildlife says weather conditions are favorable for sportsmen and sportswomen this season.

"I was a little nervous; it's been a very, very dry year," said Brandon Kent of Kent Outdoors. "Usually, dry years are very. very good for dove hunting. This year I don't know what was going on, but the birds didn't start moving in until last week. All of a sudden -- with these last two cold spells -- they pushed right in and looking like it's going to be a good opening weekend."

All hunters are required to have a license, a migratory game bird endorsement, and to complete the Harvest Information Program certification.
