If you have plans to head out and have a few drinks in Wichita this weekend, local police could be looking for you.

The Wichita Police Department is partnering with Mothers Against Drunk Driving for the organization's first "Saturation Saturday."

Officer Charley Davidson said there will be an increased presence of police officers conducting traffic stops on drivers suspected of being under the influence and violating other laws. He didn't give a time frame for the patrol.

"If you are out and partake in alcoholic beverages, please have a designated driver or use a transportation service such as a taxi, an Uber or Lyft," Davidson said. "But we want everyone to get to their destination safely and return home safely as well."

The saturation patrol is funded through Kansas STEP grants.
