SHERMAN, Texas -- Eternity Technologies is set to build its first U.S. battery cell assembly plant in Sherman.

The Dubai-based company will be developing and distributing advanced batteries for commercial forklifts. They anticipate nearly 50 new jobs for the area.

Sherman Economic Development Corporation president Kent Sharp said his organization decided to work on bringing Eternity Technologies to Grayson County several months ago.

"We worked the incentive package, and now the board approved it Tuesday," he said. "We're excited to see them come in and create those jobs and make that capital investment in our community."

SEDCO will provide a $190,000 incentive for Eternity Technologies; the company will be making a $3.8 million investment in equipment for the manufacturing facility.

Sharp believes this will be the springboard for more assembly plants in the area.
