Denison stabbing victim dead; no arrests
DENISON, Texas -- A man who was wounded in a stabbing incident early Saturday died Monday night, Denison police said.
The victim, identified as 27-year-old Harold Lee Cherry, was found with a stab wound in the upper torso at an address in the 100 block of East Burrell Street on the city's south side.
He was pronounced dead two days later at a local hospital.
Police spokesman Lt. Paul Neumann said a woman described as an "associate" was involved in the fatal disturbance. While investigators have spoken with those believed to be involved, there have been no arrests.
"Based on the information provided by witnesses and those involved, if we're not sure exactly if a criminal offense occurred we compile all of the information and let the grand jury decide what they believed occurred," said Denison police Lt. Paul Neumann. "It can go anywhere between a murder down to self-defense."
Information about the case will be referred to the city attorney, who will present the case to a grand jury.
